In any case, all your promotional materials should look professional. Written material must be free of grammatical and typographical errors. Graphics should be sharp and clear and arranged in an appealing manner on the page. Taking the timeâor spending the moneyâto do it right will pay off.

Going Global:
Marketing and Selling
on the Internet
The Internet is the easiest and fastest way to get information. Youâve probably used it to find suppliers, compare prices, and order products, among other things. Perhaps you used it to find and purchase this book. Even if you donât intend to sell your crafts around the world, your Internet presence will increase your visibilityâand your marketâin ways the old-fashioned paper Yellow Pages never could. In fact, your business may suffer if itâs not easily findable online.
For all its value, however, some people avoid using the Internet as a marketing tool, giving the excuses that itâs too expensive, technical, confusing, or time-consuming, or saying that they prefer word-of-mouth marketing. All of these may be true to some extent, but unless you have more business than you can handle, none should prevent you from diving in. But before you do, youâll need to make some decisions. Although how to create a website is beyond the scope of this book, this chapter includes some basic information to get you started.
